Dear Parents,
This is a serious warning. Please read carefully.
We initially received reports from Grade 1 parents regarding scam messages. We now confirm that parents across all grades, from Grade R to Grade 7, are receiving fraudulent messages from a hacker.
The hacker is pretending to be from the school and is saying all sorts of things to convince you that the communication is official. Some messages request R5700.00 for admissions with a link.
We have been notified by several parents that _their phones and WhatsApp accounts were hacked_ after clicking on the link, and their messages started disappearing.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING:
1. It is the school holidays. The school is NOT communicating with parents on any social media platform, WhatsApp, or any other group.
2. The school is NOT conducting any meetings with parents – no WhatsApp meetings, no online meetings, and no group meetings.
3. Many parents’ phones are being hacked. Do not click on any link, do not join any group, and do not respond to any poll or message.
PARENTS MUST BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL:
– DO NOT share any personal information, ID numbers, banking details or OTPs.
– DO NOT pay any money to anyone for Grade 1 or Grade 8 admissions. Grade 1 admissions are NOT finalised.
– DO NOT click any links, join any groups, or answer any polls.
Any message, call, link, or group invite claiming to be from the school during this holiday period
IS A SCAM. DO NOT RESPOND. DELETE AND BLOCK IT IMMEDIATELY.
Flamingo Primary School will _NEVER_ ask for payment via WhatsApp or via a link.
For payments, please note that Flamingo Primary has ONLY ONE official bank account:
Account Name: Flamingo Primary School
Bank: Standard Bank – Lenasia Branch
Account Number: 001704702
For legitimate enquiries, please contact the school directly on 011 852 7400 when the school re-opens.
Please share this message with all parents of learners from Grade R to Grade 7.
Stay vigilant and safe.
